chool refusal is a psychosocial problem in preschool children that can hinder their adaptation and developmental processes in the school environment. Differences in child characteristics based on sex are assumed to influence the function of school refusal. This study aimed to analyze differences in school refusal functions based on sex among preschool children. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. The sample consisted of 100 preschool children, with parents as the main respondents, selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using the validated School Refusal Assessment Scale–Revised (SARS-R) and analyzed using Fisher’s Exact Test. The results showed that the most dominant school refusal function among boys was function 1, reported in 30 children (54.5%), and a similar pattern was found among girls, with 25 children (55.6%). Statistical analysis showed a p-value > 0.05, indicating no significant difference between sex and school refusal functions in preschool children..
